House Fire in Semper Barat Successfully Extinguished

Personnel of North Jakarta and Seribu Islands Fire Handling and Rescue Sub-agency successfully extinguished fire that burned a two-story house at Asrama Yon Air, Jalan Ananta IV, RT 11/02, Semper Barat Urban Village, Cilincing District.

Sub-agency's Head Section of Operation, Gatot Sulaeman said the incident was reported at 2:11 AM.

His side then deployed eight firetrucks with 30 personnel to the scene.

"When personnel arrived, the fire had already grown and burned down a house measuring approximately 36 square meters which was located in a residential alley," he said, Friday (1/9).

He added the fire was suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit originating in a room on the second floor. Thanks to the swift action of personnel, the fire was completely extinguished at 3:06 AM.

"There were no fatalities or injuries in the incident. Three families, totaling nine people, were rescued," he added.

Meanwhile, the house owner, Lina (41) said residents tried to extinguish the fire with whatever equipment they had.

"Luckily, the firefighters arrived quickly at the location, so the fire was extinguished before it spread to other residents' houses," she admitted.
